The Božena Němcová Museum in Česká Skalice, the oldest Czech literary museum, offers visitors to Česká Skalice a permanent exhibition dedicated to the writer Božena Němcová, the Austro-Prussian War (1866) and the town's history.
Exposition of the Božena Němcová Museum in Česká Skalice:
The Life of Božena Němcová
The 400 m2 exposition space (Steidler Inn building) covers the documentation of the life and work of Božena Němcová. The main line of the exposition tracks the separate destinies and experiences of Němcová, including her family circle and group of friends, and the chronological development of her work. Both lines are documented by numerous original documents (photographs, first editions of books, personal items) as well as objects of a secondary character (cross-sectional illustration and sculptural work, copies of archival documents, letters, portraits, etc.).
A separate exhibition space is in the historic Dahlia Hall where Němcová celebrated her wedding and attended the first Dahlia Celebrations.
